Electric Vehicle Charge Stations
REA Energy Services Continues Installations of
Electric Vehicle Docking Stations at Mark Arbuckle Nissan
With the demand growing for “going green” the use of electric cars has been on the rise. This demand has exponentially increased the need for a way to keep these cars charged up and on the road. In response to this call for action REA Energy Services, the subsidiary of REA Energy Cooperative, Inc. (REA) has teamed up with AeroVironment (AV) to install electric vehicle (EV) docking stations at various car dealerships in the area. REA Energy Services recently completed their second installation at Mark Arbuckle Nissan in Indiana, PA.
The new chargers are part of the growing charging infrastructure currently being deployed to support the electric vehicles of today and tomorrow. Mark Arbuckle Nissan will be selling the Leaf and will have four docking stations available at their dealership.
Anticipating an electric car usage growth in 2012 and beyond, REA’s board of directors chose to examine the potential of the business of installing the EV docking stations in both commercial and residential settings using employees of REA Energy Services. Through multiple discussions with AV which including meeting with representatives to discuss a work plan and visits to vehicle dealerships to engineer the way to incorporate the electrical loads into their individual systems the decision was made to move forward.
In order to install these EV docking stations employees of REA Energy Services were required to attend training by AV to be certified to complete the installations. Employees of REA Energy Services that completed this training are now certified to not only install the chargers in the commercial industry, but in the residential venue as well.
